The Hexahedron (best known as the Cube)

I have added new ocean photographs, taken in Boca Raton in July and August of 2003, to the beginning of the page. The photos come from different days and show different moods of the ocean waves. Some of the "alt tags" (the descriptions that come up when passing across the photos with a mouse) contain snippets about math and natural fractals that relate to the photographs. The alt tags on the new ocean photos will not contain extra information, at least not right now. The photos shown below that were taken in Gumbo Limbo Nature Center's marine tanks have some extra information in the alt tags.

The plant life underneath the cube has a fractal branching structure. In reference to the previous photograph, our circulatory system also has a fractal branching structure. Tree branches are examples of fractal branching as well. Gumbo Limbo staff give the sea turtles a good scrubbing once a week. This particular sea turtle is old and blind and could not survive in the ocean.

These three pictures and the ones that follow were all taken at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton, Florida, in the summer of 2002, in their marine tanks.

Stingrays mouths are on the undersides of their bodies. To catch a good view of the bellyside of a little stingray standing straight up as it is being fed an earthworm, visit: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/5590/tj.html
